Vroom Vroom Toon Room
Snowboarding has given me so much. I want the Toon Room to serve as a way to give back to the community. To educate, empower, mentor, motivate and elevate those that have stumbled into my world and don’t have the resources that I had when I first started
Vroom Vroom Toon Room is, quite literally, a vehicle for me to reconnect with Snowboarding Community, and serve as a conduit to welcome into that community all of the new participants within snow sports that have joined our ranks since Covid hit us in 2020. As a lifelong snowboarder, and 23 year vet of the Snowboarding Industry, I have always found the most joy in two things: 1.) being the first person that a new snowboarder came in contact with during their exploration of becoming a snowboarder and 2.) tuning snowboards…. Having recently stood down from my position as North American Sales Manager for CAPiTA Snowboards, Union Binding Company and Coal Headwear, I envisioned how I could reimagine those two things and package them in a way that would allow me to travel, to snowboard every day, make new friends and connect with people (either veterans of the sport or people brand new to snowboarding) through the art of tuning, that don’t share the privilege that I had to be invited into the snowboarding community through a legacy snowboard shop. Welcome to the Party!
“…I hope to use the Toon Room as a way to encourage the community to embrace real change, to stand for diversity and inclusion, to empower women, BIPOC, Gender Non-Conforming, Disabled, Trans and LGBTQA+ within this space. Snowboarding’s very foundation is a support network for all of us misfits, outcasts, punks and derelicts. How can we turn around, at this juncture, and pass judgement on who is allowed to find that same peace, through Snowboarding, that we did..?”
